How does one retain a sound mind after dealing with (understandably) terribly ornery kids for what seems like months, politics as we know it, a virus, and horse-shit weather? With booze and rock & roll. Trust me, friends.
These were the bullet points I had set, with paragraphs of opinion to follow. It bummed me out. I deleted them all. Politics Virus Weather Kids I do love my children. We have a lot of fun, daily. That should never be a gripe, and it really wasn't initially intended to be...just venting. Love you guys...but you're exhausting. The other bullet points? Fuck em, man. Be smart, do the right thing, have empathy, curse bad weather profusely, vote your conscious, listen to excellent music, drink gin and whisk(e)y, live your damn life. Yes, those are the words of an aggravated, inebriated grown man. Whisky is from Scotland....Whiskey is not. Tonight is Bourbon. Tonight's rock & roll is Powerage, from AC/DC. Yes, big dumb rock & roll for sure...but Powerage has a different feel to it, unlike any of their other albums. It works for when you want to take it easy, rocking out with your 3yr old, sunny days outside, cold evenings by the fire, or enjoying with friends who appreciate fine rock & roll music. Most albums of significance have a vibe, and Powerage most certainly qualifies. There isn't a bad tune on the album, and I listen to it front to back daily, lately. With this pandemic going on, there really isn't a ton that I'm missing. I was built for being quarantined. But damn, do I miss baseball. It's painful. There's a scene in Avengers, End Game that shows Citi Field in NY empty after the "blip" or "snap". Wife and I look at each other while watching it last night and say, "Kinda like right now" at the same time. Weird times, man. I think of our current team and how the already aging, questionable veterans are going to stack up next season (because let's be honest, even if there's a season this year, it's not going to be a real season). Carp, Fowler, Waino, Yadi, Goldy. That's a core of vets with a lost season. Shit's messed up. Well, it's late and I've had plenty to drink. Thoughts during whiskey are about the only thoughts I get these days. At least to type out in a stuper. Whether you like baseball or not, whether you are a Republican or Democrat, whether you have kids or not, whether you are well off right now or struggling.......let's just please not be dicks. Look out for each other. Lend a hand. Put in a good word. Drink a little whisk. And please, listen to AC/DC. blog post over.
